Precautions for the transmission of microorganisms in Primary Health Care
Course description
In this course, aimed at health professionals and students in health-related programs, we will study aspects related to the prevention of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) in Primary Health Care (PHC). For this, we will use the WebQuest methodology.
Objectives
- Understand the risks of microorganism transmission outside the hospital and which situations in daily PHC practice present these risks.
- Understand the importance of hand hygiene in out-of-hospital care and how to recognize the five moments for hand hygiene in out-of-hospital care, including PHC.
- Evaluate how glove use occurs in the daily PHC routine and reflect on how improper use can lead to the transmission of microorganisms.
- Identify in which situations each type of mask should be used, how mask use should occur during home visits, and how cough etiquette can be implemented in PHC.
- Identify actions that generate sharps waste in PHC, guiding users to follow a specific protocol for handling sharps at home.
