Caring for the Caregiver: humanized practices in the care of institutionalized elderly people
Course description
This course aims to contribute to continuing education and to strengthen the technical and relational skills of caregivers working in institutions. The proposal includes content on burnout, dementias, management of behavioral symptoms, nonverbal communication with bedridden patients, and fall prevention — topics widely recognized as priorities in the care of elderly people in institutional environments.
Objectives
- Identify the main types of dementia and their behavioral manifestations.
- Develop simple strategies for managing behavioral symptoms.
- Improve nonverbal communication with bedridden elderly people.
- Apply fall prevention measures in institutional environments.
- Recognize signs of burnout and apply basic self-care strategies.
