Introduction to Numerical Integration
Course description
Numerical integration is often necessary to approximate the calculation of integrals of functions whose antiderivative is unknown, difficult to calculate, or even when the researcher has only a finite number of known values.
Therefore, this course will provide a basic and intuitive understanding of the concepts and methods of numerical integration.
Objectives
- Identify the different numerical methods presented.
- Understand the geometric idea behind numerical methods for calculating integrals.
- Apply the learned methods.
- Be able to judge which method is most advantageous depending on the function whose integral you want to calculate.
